The dachshund began in Germany as a hunting canine. However its starting points can be followed as far back as the fifteenth hundred years, the variety's advancement truly started in seventeenth century Germany. Called dachshunds, which deciphers as "badger canines," these short dogs did precisely that — they chased badgers. Their height, assurance, and autonomy were great for digging, entering burrows, and obviously, battling badgers. Their fold down ears assist with keeping soil and garbage out while tunneling.
